Congratulations Rhodes Scholars

  West Point Rhodes Scholars CDT Williams, CDT Youngren
   

Congratulations to Class of 2023 Cadets Margaret Williams and Kai Youngren who will study at the University of Oxford in the fall of 2023. They are among 32 scholars from the U.S. and will be joining recipients from more than 60 other countries. As Rhodes Scholars, CDT Williams will read for a Master of Science in Economics for Development and a Master of Science in Global Governance and Diplomacy while CDT Youngren will earn a Master of Philosophy in Development Studies. The West Point Graduate Scholarship Program uses Margin of Excellence funds to offer intensive mentorship to cadet candidates competing for prestigious scholarships such as the Rhodes, Marshall, and Fulbright. Congratulations to Emily Aycock P’24 who was chosen as this year’s spirit button design winner! Emily’s design will be printed on 1,800 buttons that will be distributed at the 2022 WPAOG Go Army! Beat Navy! Tailgate. In addition to bragging rights, Emily will receive two complimentary tickets to the WPAOG tailgate at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on Saturday, December 10. This year, the Class of ’71 Student Conference on U.S. Affairs (SCUSA) brought together 200 cadet and student delegates from more than 100 institutions and 20 countries to examine the conference theme "American Foreign Policy in an Era of Polarized Politics and Revisionist Powers." Over three days, panel members shared valuable insight on current challenges. Cadets and delegates engaged in discussion to forge the next era in civil-military relations. Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the United States Representative to the United Nations, delivered the keynote address. View photos.

Fall Sandhurst

Congratulations to the 36 Sandhurst teams who gave it their all during the Fall Sandhurst competition. The top ten teams will go on to compete in the international military skills competition in the spring. View Results.  Watch Video.

Michie Stadium Preservation Project

  West Point Michie Stadium Future
   

The Michie Stadium Preservation Project, the most ambitious gift-funded construction project in the history of USMA, is progressing towards reaching the targeted goal of $145 million, with the aim of construction beginning in the summer of 2023 and completion by the first home Army football game in 2025. In addition to the reconstruction of the East Stands, a new 162,000-square-foot structure, the Athletic Center of Excellence (ACE), features amenities such as premium suites, loge boxes, ledge seats, club-level seating areas, expanded and improved concessions and will provide offices and spaces to showcase Army West Point cadet-athletes. Mark Your Calendars for Basketball

  West Point Army Men's Basketball
   

Eighteen Patriot League basketball games will be televised on CBS Sports Network during the 2022-23 season. The Patriot League slate begins on January 9, when Army hosts defending champion Colgate. CBS Sports Network will carry both Army West Point-Navy men’s and women’s basketball doubleheaders on January 21. The teams will square off again in Annapolis on February 11. Read more.

West Point Parents Fund Check

During the Army vs. Louisiana-Monroe game, Michael MacDougall P’23, Darryl Torres ’93, P’24, Ted Agnick P’25, and Erick Daniel P’26 represented West Point parents and presented a check for $3.3 million to the Academy, the amount raised by parents this past year. Joining them on the field was Shelisa Baskerville, WPAOG Parent Giving Officer, Todd Browne ’85, The McDonald President & CEO of the West Point Association of Graduates, and the 61st Superintendent of the United States Military Academy, Lieutenant General Steven W. Gilland ’90. The West Point Parents Fund supports Margin of Excellence programs which allow all cadets to reach their highest potential. Thank you to all our parents and families!

Family Weekend

  West Point Parent Weekend 2022
   

On Friday of Family Weekend, WPAOG hosted a Superintendent’s Circle Parent Happy Hour at the Firstie Club for Margin of Excellence leadership donors to the West Point Parents Fund. West Point Parents Clubs then hosted tailgates all around campus for cadets and their families on Saturday. The WPPCs of North, Central, Gulfcoast, Southwest, and South Florida combined efforts to create the first ever all-Florida tailgate with over 250 parents, cadets, friends, and family attending.
