2022 Graduation
On May 21, USMA will celebrate the accomplishments of the Class of 2022 and their perseverance as they complete their 47-month West Point experience and commission as the next generation of officers for the U.S. Army. The Class of ’22 will join 78,629 USMA grads that have received diplomas since 1802. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Army GEN Mark A. Milley will serve as the commencement speaker. The 50-Year Affiliation Class of 1972 will present the Class of ’22 with their first set of 2LT bars. Engraved on the backs of the brass are the last two digits of the graduation years of the cadet and Affiliation. Watch graduation live here.

Distinguished Graduate Award
On May 17, WPAOG celebrated the Long Gray Line and honored this year’s Distinguished Graduate Award winners. Congratulations to this year’s recipients: COL (R) Frederick C. Lough Jr. ’70, COL (R) Lee A. Van Arsdale ’74, GEN (R) John F. Campbell ’79, BG (R) Rebecca S. Halstead ’81, Mr. Alex Gorsky ’82, and LTG (R) Nadja Y. West ’82. This annual award is bestowed upon West Point graduates whose character, distinguished service and stature draw wholesome comparison to the qualities for which West Point strives, in keeping with its motto: “Duty, Honor, Country.” Read more.

Thank You to All that Supported West Point Challenge
A heartfelt thank you to all the Old Grads, parents, and friends who supported the Challenge and encouraged others to join! Over 330 different funds, including 100 Cadet Activities and Clubs, will be impacted by the 4.4 million dollars raised. The Class of 2025 Parents won the Parent Challenge and pizza for their cadets. Once again, the Class of 1972 had the highest active class participation, the Class of 1994 had the most donors, and the Class of 1976 had the most money raised. The Class of 1977 chose to memorialize each deceased classmate through West Point Challenge gifts. A special thank you to our oldest grad, COL (R) Francis K. Newcomer '39, for his donation. 16th Annual Coach K Awards Ceremony
In a Corps-wide Mess Hall ceremony on May 5, Mike Krzyzewski ’69 discussed the imperative of teams having the moral and ethical values to win. After his speech, three cadets and three staff members received the Award for Excellence in Teaching Character Through Sport (commonly referred to as the “Coach K Awards”) for performing at the highest standard and demonstrating noble character in their respective sports. Projects Day
West Point's 23rd annual Projects Day on April 28 showcased more than 400 research capstone projects by over 1,000 cadets. The day highlighted academic excellence across USMA showcasing leaders of character who will employ their education to help build the Army and the nation’s future. WPAOG also celebrated Donor Tribute Day, WPAOG's opportunity to thank our Margin of Excellence donors and give them an opportunity to see the impact they have on cadet capstone projects. View photos.

Sandhurst 2022
Congratulations to all the teams that competed in the 2022 Sandhurst Military Skills Competition. The U.S. Air Force Academy took home first place overall. USMA Gold and USMA Black finished in second and third place, respectively. The USCC Performance Award went to Company C-3. Sandhurst is a two-day competition featuring teams from West Point, Army ROTC units across the U.S., all service academies, and 16 international teams. The military skills competition inspires excellence through rigorous physical and mental challenges that reflect the tempo, uncertainty and combat operations tasks. Read more.

Army Baseball Patriot League's Postseason Awards
The Army West Point Baseball Team was well-represented in the Patriot League’s postseason honors announcement, as southpaw CDT Connelly Early ’24 was named Pitcher of the Year and Head Coach Jim Foster earned Gene Depew Coach of the Year accolades. In addition to the major awards, the Black Knights placed nine players onto All-League Teams. The top-seeded team is on track to claim its fourth-straight Patriot League Championship after defeating No. 4 Holy Cross in a semifinal doubleheader on May 14 at Johnson Stadium. Read more.

Class of 1972 Gives Record Breaking Gift
On May 16, during their 50th Reunion, the Class of 1972 presented a 50th Reunion Gift of $6.2M to the Frederic V. Malek West Point Visitors Center; the Cyber & Engineering Academic Center; the Michie Stadium Preservation Project; the Army Cyber Institute; and the Cyber Research Center. Mr. Bill Britain and Mr. Bob Allbright represented the Class in presenting this historic gift to LTG Darryl A. Williams ’83, 60th Superintendent, and Todd Browne ’85, President and CEO of WPAOG. This gift sets a record for Class Reunion Gifts. The Class of ’72 raised $7.2M in this campaign and, collectively, they have given $14.1M to West Point since they graduated. We thank the class for its outstanding generosity. Proud and True ’72!

Class of 1945 Celebrates 77 Years
The Class of 1945 presented a 75th Reunion Gift of $74,000 to the Cold War Studies Endowment. BG (R) Samuel K. Lessey Jr. and COL (R) Amos L. Wright represented the Class in presenting this gift to LTG Darryl A. Williams ’83, 60th Superintendent, and Todd Browne ’85, President and CEO of WPAOG. Collectively, the class has generously given $21M to West Point since they graduated 77 years ago.

Men’s Track and Field Wins IC4A Championships
The Army West Point Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Team captured the 145th IC4A Outdoor Track and Field Championships for the first time in 18 years. The title is the program’s second (2004). The NCAA East Regionals are the next meet on the Black Knight’s schedule. Read More.
