May 15–17, 2026 marked a historic milestone for Army Crew, as West Point fielded a complete team for the first time at the American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) club national championship, the largest collegiate regatta in the country by entries and teams. In true warrior-scholar fashion, the Black Knights proved they are as sharp as the Athenians and as relentless as the Spartans.

A new West Point D-Day Memorial honoring more than 150 USMA graduates who led and fought during the Allied invasion of Normandy was unveiled June 4 at La Fière Memorial Park in Normandy, France. Established by the Normandy Institute, the memorial recognizes the leadership, courage, and sacrifice of officers who helped liberate Europe. Developed in collaboration with WPAOG and partner archives, the memorial ensures that West Point graduates' D-Day legacy will be remembered in perpetuity.

It was a celebration marking a milestone shaped by reflection, as members of the graduating Class of 2026 received honors for excellence in writing, introspection, and leadership development during the Pershing Essay Awards ceremony on May 20 at the U.S. Military Academy. The ceremony pays homage to General John J. Pershing, a Class of 1886 graduate.

  NASA Mission Crew Includes Frank Rubio ’98
   

COL Frank Rubio ’98 is preparing for his next mission beyond Earth. The West Point graduate and NASA astronaut has been named mission specialist for Artemis III, a 2027 test flight that will help prepare for Artemis IV, the first planned crewed mission to the lunar South Pole. Rubio, who previously spent 371 days in space and became the first American to spend more than one calendar year in microgravity, continues to represent the Long Gray Line through service, leadership, and exploration.
