CFT Flag Ceremony
Cadet Field Training (CFT) is a rite of passage for all third-class cadets. The first summer at West Point, they learn how to be a cadet; the next summer, they learn how to be a soldier in the U.S. Army with a heavy emphasis on field training. At the end of CFT, the 50-year Affiliate Class from 1978 presented the class president with a flag embroidered with the Class of 2028 crest. Photos.

1979 Welcomes 2029 for R-Day
On June 30, the 50-Year Affiliate Class of 1979 returned to West Point to warmly welcome the incoming Class of 2029 and their families for R-Day. From the early morning arrivals at Foley Athletic Center to the Oath Ceremony on the Plain at sunset, smiles, handshakes, and encouragement were shared throughout the day. Read more.

West Point Expands Academic Modernization
As modern warfare grows more complex, West Point continues its transformation to develop leaders who can think, adapt, and innovate across all domains. West Point announced the academic modernization last summer when it introduced the departments of Law and Philosophy and English with World Languages. Earlier this month, West Point launched the departments of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Geography and Earth Sciences to better reflect emerging warfare needs. Additionally, the Department of History and War Studies will produce talented leaders with exceptional analytical skills and the judgment to lead and win in an increasingly complex security environment.
