“Ring Melt” for Class of 2022
The annual “Ring Melt” was broadcast live via YouTube from West Point Eisenhower Hall on February 12. This year, 52 donated West Point class rings were melted and added to the Legacy Gold which will be used to make the West Point class rings for the Class of 2022. Full story. 500th Night
Class of 2022 cadets celebrated 500th Night on February 12. This event gives cadets a chance to celebrate their accomplishments and anticipate what’s left to do. Post Night
Class of 2021 cadets made their post decisions during a virtual Post Night event on February 3. The Academy organized various live streams in different rooms so that family, friends and Old Grads could celebrate live at home as each Cadet picked their Army Post. After graduation, the Class of 2021 will start their Army careers all over the world. Video. Photos.

2021 Henry O. Flipper Dinner
Mr Joseph B. Anderson ’65 was the guest speaker during the Henry O. Flipper Commemoration Dinner at the Cadet Mess Hall February 4. CDT Markus L. Wright ’21 received the annual Flipper Award which is presented to a First Class cadet who has demonstrated the highest qualities of leadership, self-discipline and perseverance in the face of unusual difficulties. Wright overcame personal obstacles by continuing to persevere after losing two of his best friends to gang violence while going through cadet basic training. He has begun working with his high school and community leaders in his hometown of Columbus, GA, to raise funds for a scholarship to provide more opportunities for young teenagers. Video. Photos.

Robinson ’21 Published by the AIAA
CDT Justin Robinson ’21 recently presented research on Kriging Variance and Human Factors to Steer an Unmanned Aircraft System Swarm to Survey a Radiation Field at the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) SciTech Conference, where his work was published. This study explores the benefits of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) swarm that utilizes Kriging to map out and collect data from fields of interest. Kriging Swarm is an algorithm that repeatedly seeks to find the next set of optimal data points for the swarm to survey to minimize uncertainty in a field of unknown and random samples. Read more.
