Class of 2028 Cadets Affirm Their Commitment
On August 16, the “No Calling Too Great” Class of 2028, affirmed their commitment to service and took the Oath of Affirmation. LTG (R) Thomas Bostick ’78 was the guest speaker for the evening. The 50-Year Affiliation “Proud & Great” Class of 1978 proudly presented each member of the class with a coin to commemorate the milestone. View photos. Watch ceremony.

LTG Bartholomees '95 Takes Command as Superintendent
LTG James B. Bartholomees III ’95 officially became West Point’s 62nd Superintendent during a change of command ceremony on August 17. A combat-tested leader and former commanding general of the 25th Infantry Division and U.S. Army Hawaii, Bartholomees brings extensive experience to his new role overseeing the Academy and the development of the Corps of Cadets. He succeeds LTG Steven W. Gilland ’90, who retired after 36 years of Army service. Read more.

BG Gist '94 Named West Point's 16th Dean
BG Nicholas H. Gist ’94 has been confirmed as the 16th Dean of the Academic Board at West Point. As the Academy’s chief academic officer, Gist will oversee the academic program and faculty, helping ensure cadets are prepared to lead and solve the complex challenges of tomorrow. A longtime West Point educator and leader, he previously served as head of the Department of Physical Education a.k.a. “Master of the Sword.” Read more.

Class of 2030 Completes March Back
The Class of 2030 marked the culmination of six weeks of Cadet Basic Training with the 12-mile March Back from Lake Frederick. More than 400 graduates—the largest group to participate since the tradition began—marched alongside the new cadets, offering encouragement and sharing lessons from their own West Point experiences. Class of 2027 Cadet Leadership Positions Announced
West Point has announced the “Earned Not Given” Class of 2027 cadets selected to lead the Corps of Cadets during the academic year. Among the selected brigade leaders is Elizabeth Fetter ’27 of Palo Alto, California, who will serve as First Captain and Brigade Commander. Cadet leaders were selected for demonstrating excellence in academics, military training, physical performance, character, and leadership. They assumed their new responsibilities August 14, before the start of the fall academic session. Read more.

Class of 2030 Acceptance Day Parade
Acceptance Day was another proud and memorable moment for the “Strong & Sturdy” Class of 2030 and their families. After six demanding weeks of Cadet Basic Training, approximately 1,200 new cadets officially joined their companies alongside the upper classes as plebes. Led by First Captain Elizabeth Fetter ’27, the parade celebrated an important milestone in the class’s 47-month West Point journey. Watch video.

Cadets Put Ethics at the Center of Emerging Technology
A Class of 2026 capstone team developed training software that helps current and future Army leaders consider the ethical and legal implications of using autonomous weapons systems. Working across philosophy, military decision-making, and artificial intelligence, the cadets created realistic scenarios that reinforce an essential West Point lesson: Technological capability must always be guided by responsible human judgment. The project demonstrates how cadets apply classroom learning to complex challenges they may face as officers. Read more.
