LTC Robert K. Beale ’02, has been selected to receive the 2022 Alexander R. Nininger Award for Valor at Arms, which will be presented on October 20 at West Point. Beale, who has been deployed more than a dozen times during his career, is currently serving at U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command at Fort Bragg, NC. The WPAOG Nininger Award is presented annually to a graduate who is an exemplar of heroic action in battle and is funded by a generous endowment from E. Doug Kenna ’45 and his wife, Jean. The award is named in honor of Lieutenant Alexander R. “Sandy” Nininger Jr. ’41, the first recipient of the Medal of Honor in World War II. Read more about LTC Beale. Representatives from 17 Army branches educated cadets about their respective career fields through displays across the Academy. The Class of 2023 will find out their branches on December 1. On August 26, the Class of 2023 received their rings during the ring ceremony at Trophy Point. GEN Edward M. Daly ’87, 20th Commanding General of the U.S. Army Materiel Command, delivered the keynote remarks at the banquet. WPAOG hosted members of the Superintendent’s Circle September 9-10 at the annual Superintendent’s Circle Weekend. The weekend included a Friday evening dinner at Eisenhower Hall with members of the USMA and WPAOG Leader Teams and cheering on Army at the football game. Army West Point Women’s Rugby took down Princeton by a score of 87-0 to improve to 2-0 on the season. The match marked the first varsity contest between the two after the Tigers joined the NIRA circuit ahead of the 2022 15s season.
