R Day for Class of 2025
USMA will welcome more than 1,225 candidates from every state in the nation over three days from June 26-28. Reception Day will be staggered to accommodate public health guidelines and incorporate nonpharmaceutical interventions to safeguard the health and welfare of all cadet candidates, families, and community members. The days mark the beginning of Cadet Basic Training and the first day of their transition from civilian to new cadet as a member of the Class of 2025. Full story.

Dolehide Receives National Tennis Award
CDT Stephanie Dolehide '22, who was recently named one of 12 regional winners of the ITA Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award, was announced as the recipient of the national honor on Monday afternoon. The rising senior is the first Army women's tennis player to receive a national award from the ITA in program history. Full story.

Summer Leader Experience Goes Virtual
The Summer Leader Experience is designed to offer a glimpse into the academic, athletic and social life of U.S. Military Academy cadets to rising high school seniors looking to make the critical decision for their college journey within the next year. This year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, SLE was offered virtually to nearly 1,200 prospective cadet candidates for the first time to decide if West Point is the right choice for them. Full story.

Astronaut Shane Kimbrough ’89 Goes on Spacewalks
Astronaut and West Point Grad Shane Kimbrough '89 went for a walk in space on June 20. The spacewalk outside the International Space Station was streamed live as Kimbrough and fellow Astronaut Thomas Pesquet installed and deployed the first new roll out solar array. The two astronauts will venture outside the ISS again on Friday, June 25, for a third spacewalk to continue power system upgrades. Video. Full story.

Army Swimmers Compete at Olympic Qualifiers
Josh Zock ’21 and Tyler Kim ’21, former members of the Army men's swimming and diving team, competed in the first wave of the U.S. Olympic qualifier last weekend at the CHI Health Center. Zock competed in the 50m freestyle and Kim swam the 200m backstroke. Full story.

2021-22 WPAOG Parent Handbook Available
The WPAOG Parent Handbook provides everything you need to know about being a member of the West Point community and participating in your cadet’s 47-month experience. The guide includes valuable information about visiting West Point, resources available to families, WPAOG support and services, connecting with other families through the WPAOG website’s Parent Portal, how to become involved with Parents Clubs, and special events.
