June Graduation
On June 10, WPAOG welcomed our newest members as they commissioned as second lieutenants! LTC (R) E. Duston Saunders a member of the Class of 2022’s 50-Year Affiliation class, handed each graduate their commemorative second lieutenant bars engraved with “72-22.” Congratulations to the four cadets that graduated!

Cadet Summer Training Update
Class of 2025 cadets have been hard at work the past few weeks during Cadet Summer Training! Cadets were out at the Water Confidence Course completing the slide for life and other obstacles that test cadets' physical and mental agility, as well as their skills as a team. Advanced Individual Academic Development (AIAD) Trip
Dr. Colleen Eils, Deputy Director of the West Point Writing Center, and a group of cadets finished up their Writing Today AIAD trip to Washington, D.C. During their two-week trip, cadets researched about writing with faculty and journalists, Smithsonian Museum and Folger Shakespeare Library curators, Congressional representatives, and with former analysts and speechwriters in the White House and Pentagon. Opportunities like these are made possible by donors supporting the Margin of Excellence.

2LT Gibson ’22 Caps Record-Setting Career
2LT Jamir Gibson ’22 capped his record-setting career with an 18th place finish in the men’s discus at the 2022 NCAA Championships. Gibson's final throw was his best, landing 55.14 meters. Gibson earned All-American Honorable Mention honors and rewrote the record book during his career at Army. Read More.

Last Call for Nominations for Elections
Remember to get Board of Directors or Advisory Council applications in by July 1! In 2022, the WPAOG Nominating Committee will nominate graduates for five Director positions and six Advisor-at-Large positions. The deadline for graduates to submit their completed applications is July 1. The 2022 election process will conclude on November 15 at 5pm EST, at the Annual Meeting of the Association of Graduates at Herbert Alumni Center. CDT Williams ’23 Wins Rudy Scholz Award
Congratulations to CDT Larry Williams Jr. ’23 who received the Rudy Scholz Award as the best men’s collegiate rugby player in the country. Williams, at the tighthead prop position for Army West Point Men’s Rugby played a key role in the Black Knights’ success in the 15’s season helping the team compile a record of 14-1 and bring home the program’s first-ever D1A Men's Rugby National Championship title. Anderson Athletic Center Named 2021 Project of the Year
The Construction Management Association of America awarded the Anderson Athletic Center the 2021 Project of the Year: Under $25 Million. The Anderson Athletic Center is a repurposed 150-year-old three story building that was completely gutted, structurally stabilized, and reconfigured to provide a state-of-the-art athletic training facility for cadets housing Army West Point Volleyball, Softball and Sprint Football. The 21,000-square-foot athletic facility was made possible by the generosity of lead donors Lee Anderson '61 and his wife, Penny. Read more.
