New cadets conducted crew served weapons training to become familiar with the operation and maintenance of the M249, M240B, M320, M17, and FGM-148 (Javelin). They focused on the M320 grenade launcher and learned fundamentals of warfighting and basic standards to gain experience with these common infantry platoon weapon systems. View photos.

Cadet Leadership Development Training (CLDT) gives Firstie (senior) and Cow (junior) cadets a chance to lead teams, squads and platoons in operationally-relevant scenarios where they are expected to demonstrate the effective leadership of a junior officer. CLDT 2 conducted multiple company air movements this past week to introduce cadets to air assault operations. View photos.

Simulation Center Training
Cadets receive basic rifle marksmanship (BRM) instruction at the West Point Simulation Center, a Margin of Excellence center and top fundraising priority for the Academy, in this new episode of the West Point CST Spotlight. The West Point Simulation Center maintains a specific focus of applying modeling and simulations technology to education and training. Learn more.

149 Cadet-Athletes Placed on Winter-Spring Patriot League Honor Roll
The Army West Point Department of Athletics had 149 cadet-athletes earn a spot on the Patriot League’s 2021-22 Winter-Spring Academic Honor Roll. The honor roll celebrates students for their outstanding dedication to academic excellence. To be eligible, students must have a minimum 3.20 GPA from the fall 2021 semester. Read more.

Football Preseason Honors
CDT Marquel Broughton ’23 has been nominated for the 2022 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. The nominees are 114 student-athletes across college football that demonstrate exemplary community service, academic dedication, and an impact on and off the field. CDT Andre Carter II ’24 has been named to the Sporting News 2022 Preseason All-American Second Team. Carter has received his third preseason All-American honor as he was named as a third team All-American by both Phil Steele and Athlon Sports. He became the first Black Knight to be named an AP All-American (Third Team) since 1990 after a breakout 2021 campaign. Read more.
