Congratulations to this year’s Henry O. Flipper Award recipient CDT Teryon Lowery ’24. Since 1977, the award has been given to a firstie who has demonstrated the highest qualities of leadership, self-discipline, and perseverance in the face of adversity. It celebrates the legacy and service of Henry Ossian Flipper, the first African American graduate of USMA, Class of 1877. Read more.

Rubio ’98 Receives Army Astronaut Device
Secretary of the Army Christine Wormuth awarded COL Frank Rubio ’98 the Army Astronaut Device during a pinning ceremony at the Pentagon on February 22. Rubio spent 371 days aboard the International Space Station from 2022-2023 breaking the record for the longest spaceflight for an American astronaut. Read more.

Swimming and Diving
Army West Point’s CDT Molly Webber ’26 was named Women's Swimmer of the Meet after collecting three individual golds and two golds in the relays at the 2024 Patriot League Championships. Webber also earned Women’s Highest Point Scorer with 96 points. The Black Knights Men and Women’s teams set 14 program records and two league records to go along with 15 gold medals across the four-day championship at Navy. Read more.

USMA Chess Team Club Beats Navy
At the U.S. Amateur Team East tournament, on February 17-19 in Parsippany, NJ, CDT Peter Jackson ’26 was one of only two “Board 2” players in the tournament to finish with a perfect 6-0 record. The three-day event is one of the largest tournaments in the world, with 330 teams and over 1,300 individual players. Read more.
